Introductie
Hét zomerjurkje waar je naar op zoek was!  Dit jurkje is heel vrouwelijk door zijn aangesloten pasvorm en V/overslag halslijn. Voor de rok kies je a-lijn of een wat wijder uitlopende rok. De racer back of kruisbanden achter laten je rug vrij voor de zonnestralen. Sandaaltjes met  plateau zool zijn een must om je retro outfit helemaal af te maken. Als je er eenmaal 1 gemaakt hebt zullen er meer volgen, gegarandeerd! Ik leg je in deze tutorial stap voor stap uit hoe je deze jurk kunt maken. Het materiaal gebruikt voor deze jurk is single jersey katoen tricot maar ze is ook leuk in vicose elasthan single jersey  of zelfs een vintage trevira jersey. Controleer voor je begint de maattabel voor de juiste maat.

Introduction
This is the summer dress you've been looking for! This dress is very feminine due to its fitted shape and V/wrap neckline. For the skirt, choose an A-line or a slightly wider skirt. The racer back or cross straps back leave your back free for the sun's rays. Platform sandals are a must to complete your retro outfit. Once you've made one, more will follow, guaranteed! In this tutorial I will show you step by step how to make this dress. The material used for this dress is single jersey cotton jersey but she is also nice in vicose elastane single jersey  or even a vintage trevira jersey. Before you start, check the size chart for the correct size.

Voorbereiding
Preparation

Bij aankoop van een van onze patronen ontvangt u 3 PDF-bestanden: een voor thuisprinters om op A4-papier af te drukken, een tweede voor A0-gebruikers om af te drukken in een printshop en een derde is voor mensen die een overheadprojector gebruiken. De volgende algemene introductietekst geeft een overzicht van hoe onze patroon-pdf's zijn opgezet en legt uit hoe je de A4-versie kunt afdrukken en hoe je de pagina's aan elkaar kunt plakken. A0-gebruikers kunnen bij hun printshop aangeven welke pagina's ze nodig hebben. Op de projector bestanden staan alle panden in dezelfde richting.
On purchasing any of our patterns you will receive 3 PDF files: one for home printers to print on A4 paper, a second at A0 is for printshop users and a third is for sewers who use an overhead projector. The following general introduction text provides an overview of how our pattern pdfs are set up and explains how to print out the A4 version and how to stick the pages together. A0 users should simply instruct their printshop which pages they require. Projector users will note that all pieces have the grain direction facing the same way.

All of our patterns follow the same set up as explained here. Each pattern starts with a cover page, an introduction, a body size chart, a design drawing, a pattern checklist and a colouring sheet.The pattern can be found on the last listing under the bookmarks tab.

Je kunt vervolgens de maat of maten selecteren die je wilt afdrukken.

Als je thuis print op een A4-printer, drukt u op het afdrukpictogram in het bovenste menu van de PDF. Uw afdrukdialoogvenster kan hiervan verschillen  (rechts in het midden weergegeven), maar ik heb een paar knoppen gemarkeerd om het te verduidelijken. Om inkt te besparen kun je instellen dat het patroon in grijstinten wordt afgedrukt. Selecteer de pagina's die je wilt afdrukken, over het algemeen vanaf pagina 7 tot de laatste pagina. Zorg ervoor dat de schaal is ingesteld op 'ware grootte' of '100%' - NOOIT op 'passend op pagina'. Het werkelijke paginaformaat van de PDF is kleiner dan A4. Stel de oriëntatie in op Auto, ik vind dat dit het beste werkt omdat het dan de pdf op een A4-blad centreert.
If printing at home on an A4 printer press the print icon in the top menu of the PDF. Your print dialogue box may vary to this one (shown middle right), but I have highlighted a few buttons to take note of. To save ink you can set to print the pattern in greyscale. Select the pages to print which will usually be from page 7 until the final page. Make sure the scale is set to 'actual size' or ‘100%' - NEVER to 'fit to page’. The actual page size of the PDF is smaller than A4. Set the orientation to Auto, I find this works best as it will then centre the pdf on an A4 sheet.

Rond elke pagina zie je kleine zwarte driehoekjes met letters erin. Met een schaar en doorzichtig plakband bij de hand, kun je vervolgens om elke pagina uitknippen tot aan de driehoeken en vervolgens de letters in de zwarte driehoeken uitlijnen met de overeenkomende op de volgende pagina (A naar A, B naar B, enz.). Vervolgens kunt u het blad aan elkaar plakken. Een vel kan uit 16 of 20 pagina's bestaan, afhankelijk van het gekochte patroon. Around each page you will see small black triangles with letters inside. With scissors and clear sticky tape at hand, you can then cut out every alternate page to the triangles and then align the letters in the black triangles with the matching ones on the following page (A to A, B to B, etc). You can then proceed to stick the sheet together. One sheet can consist of 16 or 20 pages depending on the pattern purchased. Some patterns consist of one full sheet (eg. skirts with 16 pages), some of two sheets (eg. dresses with 32 pages).

Nadat je je pagina's hebt afgedrukt, leg je ze op een plat oppervlak. Knip de pagina's om en om uit tot aan de driehoekjes. Plak vervolgens met doorzichtig plakband de driehoeken met dezelfde letter aan elkaar. Knip vervolgens je patroondeel uit tot aan de stippellijnen. Deze stippellijnen bevatten de benodigde naadtoeslag voor elk stuk. De dunnere stippellijnen geven de uiteindelijke maat aan. Voor het gemak zijn alle namen van de stukken, samen met de draadrichting en handige instructies in de afzonderlijke patroondelen geplaatst, zodat u het overtollige papier veilig kunt weggooien (recycle). Let op dat sommige patronen ook een verklarend diagram kunnen bevatten op een van de pagina's die bewaard moeten worden. Als je de  patroondelen op patroonpapier wilt overtrekken, moet je er aan denken alle markeringen te kopiëren (bijv. draadrichting, knipjes etc.).
Once you have printed out your pages lay them out on a flat surface (top left). Cut out to the triangle edge on alternate pages (top right). Then with clear sticky tape connect the triangles that correspond to each other (bottom left). Then cut out your pattern piece to the dashed lines (bottom right). These dashed lines include the necessary seam allowance for each piece. The thinner dotted lines indicate the finished size. For convenience all names of pieces, along with grain direction and helpful instructions have been placed inside individual pattern pieces, so you can safely throw away (please recycle) the excess paper. Note some patterns may also include an explanatory diagram on one of the pages that should also be kept. 
To continue trace all the pattern pieces onto pattern paper, remembering to copy all the markings (eg. darts, piece to piece alignment lines etc).

Tip:
Ben je wat langer (>1m70) dan zou ik adviseren het bovenlijfje iets te verlengen. Doe dit zoals aangegeven op de foto, in het armsgat. Het armsgat zal dan iets lager komen. Wil je meer dan 2 cm verlengen dan kun je ook nog wat lengte aantekenen aan de onderkant.
Tip:
If you are a bit taller (>1m70), I would advise you to lengthen the bodice slightly. Do this as shown on the image. The armhole will then be slightly lower. If you want to extend more than 2 cm, you can also add some length at the bottom.

Goed om te weten
Ik ga in deze werkbeschrijving uit van het gebruik van een overlock machine. Mocht je daar niet over beschikken dan kun je een zig-zag steek gebruiken op een gewone naaimachine. Ik raad dan wel aan om er altijd een stretch stiksel naast te plaatsen. De naadtoeslag van de patronen is 1cm. Check wat de breedte instelling van je naad is op je lockmachine is. Is het 0,7cm dan kun je tijdens het stikken 3mm wegsnijden. De stretchnaden stik je met een stretchsteek instelling op de gewone naaimachine.

​Good to know
For this tutorial an overlock machine was being used for sewing most of the garment. However, it is possible to use a regular sewing machine and sew with a zigzag stitch. I do recommend sewing an extra stretch stitch next to it to create clean lines. The seam allowance of the patterns is 1cm. Check the seam width setting of your overlock machine. If it is 0.7cm you can cut away 3mm while sewing. The stretch seams can be sewn using the stretch setting on a regular sewing machine.

3.
Figuurnaden, hals en armsgaten

3a.
Stik eventueel eerst het label op de voering van het achterpand.
Sew the woven label on the lining of the back part. Optional.

3b.
Knip van je papieren patroondeel de figuurnaad  langs 1 zijde in en vouw om. Plaats het patroondeel aan de binnenkant van zowel voorpand als belegdeel. Geef met spelden de onderkant van de figuurnaad aan en de punt. 
Cut the dart along 1 side of your paper pattern piece and fold over. Place the pattern piece on the inside of both front piece and facing piece. Use pins to mark the bottom of the dart and the tip.

3c.
Speld de punt en onderkant van de figuurnaad dicht.
Pin the tip and bottom of the dart. 

3d.
Voor je begint met het naaien van de naad trek je eerst aan de bovendraad tot je een stuk hebt zo lang als de coupenaad. Gebruik dit draadje als een lineaal om langs te stikken richting het eindpunt. Doe dit met een stretchsteek.
Before sewing the dart, pull a length of upper thread as long as the dart. Use this thread as a guide to stitch along in the direction of the tip of the dart. Do this with a stretchstitch.

3e.
Langs een meetlint naaien werkt ook prima.
Sewing along a tapemeasure also works fine.

3f.
Pers de coupenaden plat.
Press the darts.

3g.
Laat de coupenaden van het voorpandje naar de zijkanten wijzen en die van de voering naar binnen.
Make sure the darts of the frontpiece point outwards and the darts of the lining point inwards. 

3h.
Speld de schoudernaden van zowel voor-en achterpand als de voeringdelen met de goede kanten tegen elkaar.
Pin the shoulderseams of both front-and backpieces aswell as the lining pieces right sides together.

3i.
Stik alle 4 de schoudernaden met een stretch steek, strijk deze open en knip de hoekjes weg.
Sew all 4 shoulderseams with a stretch stitch, iron open and thin out the corners.

3j.
Optioneel: Als je stof wat dunner is of niet heel rekbaar is, dan kun je op 0,5 cm van de kant van de armsgaten een Framilon bandje stikken. Terwijl je stikt, rek je het elastiek iets uit. Dit zorgt ervoor dat de armsgaten mooi aansluiten.
Optional: If your fabric is quite thin or not very stretchy, you can sew  Framilon tape at 0.5 cm from the armhole sides. As you stitch, stretch the elastic slightly. This ensures that the armholes fit nicely.

3k.
Speld de hals van het voering voor-en achterpand tegen de hals van het voor-en achterpand met de goede kanten tegen elkaar.
Pin the neck of the lining front-and backpiece to the neck of the front-and backpiece right sides together.

3l.
Stik de hals met een stretchsteek en geef een knipje in de V.
Sew the neck with a stretch stitch and clip the V.

3m.
Keer en pers de hals.
Turn and press the neck.

3n.
Met de goede kant boven rol je nu het bovenstukje naar het armsgat.
With the right side up you now roll the bodice towards the armhole.

3o.
Breng de schoudernaad om de rol heen samen met de goede kanten op elkaar.
Bring the shoulder seam around the roll, right sides together.

3p.
Plaats een speld op de schoudernaad.
Place a pin on the shoulderseam.

3q.
En speld vanaf de schouder de rest van het armsgat dicht.
And pin the rest of the armhole from the shoulder.

3r.
Stik het armsgat met een stretchsteek.
Sew the armhole with a stretch stitch.

3s.
Keer terug om.
Turn back.

3t.
Pers het armsgat plat. Speld en stik het andere armsgat op dezelfde manier. 
Press the armhole. Pin and sew the other armhole using the same method.

3u.
Stik de hals en de armsgaten door op ong. 0,5cm van de rand.
Topstitch de neck and armholes on approx.0,5cm from the edge.

4.
Rok, zijnaden en zoom

4a.
Speld het voor rokdeel tegen beide lagen van het voorpand en het achter rokdeel tegen beide lagen van het achterpand met de goede kanten tegen elkaar.
Stik de delen aan elkaar met de lockmachine.
Pin the front skirtpart to both layers of the front of the bodice and the back skirtpart to both layers of the back of the bodice right sides together. Sew the pieces together using the overlockmachine.

4b.
Stik de zijnaden tot net onder de verhoogde taillenaad met een stretchsteek. Het is erg moeilijk om dit direct met de lockmachine te doen omdat het makkelijk verschuift. Knip het draadje aan het begin van de naad nog niet af.
Stitch the side seams to just below the raised waist seam with a stretch stitch. It is very difficult to do this directly with the overlockmachine because it slides easily. Do not cut the thread at the beginning of the seam yet.

4c.
Zorg ervoor dat de naad voor naar beneden wijst en de naad achter omhoog.
Make sure the seam at the front points downwards and the back upwards.

4d.
Stik nu de hele zijnaad met de overlockmachine.
Now sew the sideseam with the overlockmachine.

4e.
Werk de onderkant af met de overlockmachine, speld de zoom af.
Finish the edge with the overlockmachine, pin the hem.

4f.
Met een gewone steek kun je de zoom vaststikken.  Uiteraard kun je ook de zoom in een keer afwerken en zomen met een coverlock machine.
Sew the seam with a regular stitch. Offcourse you can also finish and sew the seam in one go with a coverlockmachine.

4g.
Nu alleen nog even het naadje onder de arm netjes vastzetten met een paar steekjes - gebruik het loshangende draadje hiervoor.
Now you just need to secure the seam under the arm with a few stitches - use the loose thread for this.

4h.

5c.
Speld de punt en onderkant van de figuurnaad dicht.
Pin the tip and bottom of the dart.

5d.
Voor je begint met het naaien van de naad trek je eerst aan de bovendraad tot je een stuk hebt zo lang als de coupenaad. Gebruik dit draadje als een lineaal om langs te stikken richting het eindpunt. Doe dit met een stretchsteek.
Before sewing the dart, pull a length of upper thread as long as the dart. Use this thread as a guide to stitch along in the direction of the tip of the dart. Do this with a stretchstitch.

5e.
Langs een meetlint naaien werkt ook prima.
Sewing along a tapemeasure also works fine.

5f.
Pers de coupenaden plat.
Press the darts.

Laat de coupenaden van het voorpandje naar de zijkanten wijzen en die van de voering naar binnen.

Speld de kruisbanden tegen de voorpand delen en de voeringdelen met de goede kanten tegen elkaar.
Pin the crossbands to the front and liningpieces right sides together.

5i.
Stik de naden met een stretch steek, strijk deze open en knip de hoekjes weg.
Sew the seams with a stretch stitch, iron open and thin out the corners.

5j.
Speld het voeringpand tegen het voorpand met de goede kanten tegen elkaar.
Pin the liningpart to the frontpart right sides together.

5k.
Stik de pandjes met een stretchsteek.
Sew the pieces with a stretch stitch.

5l.
Dun de naden uit bij de schouder.
Thin out the seams at the shoulder.

5m.
Keer de pandjes.
Turn the bodice parts.

5n.
Stik de hals en de armsgaten door op ong. 0,5cm van de rand.
Topstitch de neck and armholes on approx.0,5cm from the edge.

5o.
Leg de 2 pandjes op elkaar en stik de overslag vast aan de onderrand.
Place the 2 bodice pieces together and sew together on the bottom edge.

5p.
Stik de kruisbanden op de aangegeven punten aan de goede kant van het achterpand.
Sew the crossbands on the indicated points on the right side of the backpiece.

5q.
Speld het voering deel tegen het achterpand goede kanten tegen elkaar.
Pin the lining part to the back part right sides together.

5r.
Stik de panden tegen elkaar, keer, pers plat en stik door op ong.0,5cm van de kant.
Sew the backparts together, turn, press and topstitch on appr. 0,5cm from the edge.

5s.
Het bovenstuk is klaar.
The top piece is ready.

6.
Rok, zijnaden en zoom

6a.
Speld het voor rokdeel tegen beide lagen van het voorpand en het achter rokdeel tegen beide lagen van het achterpand met de goede kanten tegen elkaar.
Pin the front skirtpart to both layers of the front of the bodice and the back skirtpart to both layers of the back of the bodice right sides together.

6b.
Stik de delen aan elkaar met de lockmachine.
Sew the pieces together using the overlockmachine.

6c.

Met een gewone steek kun je de zoom vaststikken.  Uiteraard kun je ook de zoom in een keer afwerken en zomen met een coverlock machine.
Sew the seam with a regular stitch. Offcourse you can also finish and sew the seam in one go with a coverlockmachine.

6g.
Nu alleen nog even het naadje onder de arm netjes vastzetten met een paar steekjes (gebruik het loshangende draadje hiervoor).
Now you just need to secure the seam under the arm with a few stitches (use the loose thread for this).
