Introductie
Wat een eyecatcher, onze classic tee square/ sweetheart neck. Door alle details net iets meer dan een t-shirt en maakt elke outfit fabulous! De vierkante hals en pofmouw zijn helemaal van nu en de sweetheart in combinatie met kapmouwtje is een echte fifties klassieker. Dit t-shirt heeft een fijne pasvorm en heel veel extra's. Je kunt kiezen uit een aangesloten model of een iets lossere fit. Het patroon bevat behalve de vierkante hals ook een sweetheart hals. Je kunt het shirt afwerken met een zoom of  kiezen voor een kortere lengte afgewerkt met een band (voor als je geen lang shirt in broek of rok wilt dragen). Gebruik voor dit t-shirt een katoen /elasthane single jersey of een viscose/elasthane single jersey.

What an eye-catcher, our classic tee square/ sweetheart neck. Because of all the details a little more than just a t-shirt and makes every outfit fabulous! The square neckline and puff sleeves are very contemporary and the sweetheart in combination with cap sleeves is a real fifties classic. This t-shirt has a great fit and lots of extras. You can choose from a fitted model or a slightly looser fit. In addition to the square neckline, the pattern also includes a sweetheart neckline. You can finish the shirt with a hem or opt for a shorter length finished with a band (if you don't want to wear a long shirt with pants or skirt). Use a cotton/elastane single jersey or a viscose/elastane single jersey for this t-shirt.

Voorbereiding
Preparation

Bij aankoop van een van onze patronen ontvangt u 3 PDF-bestanden: een voor thuisprinters om op A4-papier af te drukken, een tweede voor A0-gebruikers om af te drukken in een printshop en een derde is voor mensen die een overheadprojector gebruiken. De volgende algemene introductietekst geeft een overzicht van hoe onze patroon-pdf's zijn opgezet en legt uit hoe je de A4-versie kunt afdrukken en hoe je de pagina's aan elkaar kunt plakken. A0-gebruikers kunnen bij hun printshop aangeven welke pagina's ze nodig hebben. Op de projector bestanden staan alle panden in dezelfde richting.
On purchasing any of our patterns you will receive 3 PDF files: one for home printers to print on A4 paper, a second at A0 is for printshop users and a third is for sewers who use an overhead projector. The following general introduction text provides an overview of how our pattern pdfs are set up and explains how to print out the A4 version and how to stick the pages together. A0 users should simply instruct their printshop which pages they require. Projector users will note that all pieces have the grain direction facing the same way.

Als je thuis print op een A4-printer, drukt u op het afdrukpictogram in het bovenste menu van de PDF. Uw afdrukdialoogvenster kan hiervan verschillen (rechts in het midden weergegeven), maar ik heb een paar knoppen gemarkeerd om het te verduidelijken. Om inkt te besparen kun je instellen dat het patroon in grijstinten wordt afgedrukt. Selecteer de pagina's die je wilt afdrukken, over het algemeen vanaf pagina 7 tot de laatste pagina. Zorg ervoor dat de schaal is ingesteld op 'ware grootte' of '100%' - NOOIT op 'passend op pagina'. Het werkelijke paginaformaat van de PDF is kleiner dan A4. Stel de oriëntatie in op Auto, ik vind dat dit het beste werkt omdat het dan de pdf op een A4-blad centreert.
If printing at home on an A4 printer press the print icon in the top menu of the PDF. Your print dialogue box may vary to this one (shown middle right), but I have highlighted a few buttons to take note of. To save ink you can set to print the pattern in greyscale. Select the pages to print which will usually be from page 7 until the final page. Make sure the scale is set to 'actual size' or ‘100%' - NEVER to 'fit to page’. The actual page size of the PDF is smaller than A4. Set the orientation to Auto, I find this works best as it will then centre the pdf on an A4 sheet.

Rond elke pagina zie je kleine zwarte driehoekjes met letters erin. Met een schaar en doorzichtig plakband bij de hand, kun je vervolgens om elke pagina uitknippen tot aan de driehoeken en vervolgens de letters in de zwarte driehoeken uitlijnen met de overeenkomende op de volgende pagina (A naar A, B naar B, enz.). Around each page you will see small black triangles with letters inside. With scissors and clear sticky tape at hand, you can then cut out every alternate page to the triangles and then align the letters in the black triangles with the matching ones on the following page (A to A, B to B, etc). You can then proceed to stick the sheet together. One sheet can consist of 16 or 20 pages depending on the pattern purchased. Some patterns consist of one full sheet (eg. skirts with 16 pages), some of two sheets (eg. dresses with 32 pages).

Once you have printed out your pages lay them out on a flat surface (top left). Cut out to the triangle edge on alternate pages (top right). Then with clear sticky tape connect the triangles that correspond to each other (bottom left). Then cut out your pattern piece to the dashed lines (bottom right). These dashed lines include the necessary seam allowance for each piece. The thinner dotted lines indicate the finished size. For convenience all names of pieces, along with grain direction and helpful instructions have been placed inside individual pattern pieces, so you can safely throw away (please recycle) the excess paper. Note some patterns may also include an explanatory diagram on one of the pages that should also be kept. 
To continue trace all the pattern pieces onto pattern paper, remembering to copy all the markings (eg. darts, piece to piece alignment lines etc).

Goed om te weten
Ik ga in deze werkbeschrijving uit van het gebruik van een overlock machine. Mocht je daar niet over beschikken dan kun je een zig-zag steek gebruiken op een gewone naaimachine. Ik raad dan wel aan om er altijd een stretch stiksel naast te plaatsen. De naadtoeslag van de patronen is 1cm. Check wat de breedte instelling van je naad is op je lockmachine is. Is het 0,7cm dan kun je tijdens het stikken 3mm wegsnijden. De stretchnaden stik je met een stretchsteek instelling op de gewone naaimachine.

​Good to know
For this tutorial an overlock machine was being used for sewing most of the garment. However, it is possible to use a regular sewing machine and sew with a zigzag stitch. I do recommend sewing an extra stretch stitch next to it to create clean lines. The seam allowance of the patterns is 1cm. Check the seam width setting of your overlock machine. If it is 0.7cm you can cut away 3mm while sewing. The stretch seams can be sewn using the stretch setting on a regular sewing machine.

Schoudernaden en halsbies
Shoulderseams and neckband

3a.
Werk de schoudernaden af met overlock of zigzag. Speld de schoudernaad. Stik de schoudernaden met een stretch steek.
Finish the edges with overlock or zigzag. Pin the shoulder seams. Sew the shoulderseams with a stretch stitch.

3b.
Strijk de naden open.
Iron open the seams. 

3c.
De hals afwerking bestaat uit 4 voor- en achter halsbiezen. De biezen zijn op de schouder schuin van vorm en liggen daardoor platter tegen de hals. Je hoeft de bies daardoor ook minder uit te rekken wat een gladder resultaat geeft. 
The neck band consists of 4 front and back pieces. The bands are cut at an angle so the band will sit flatter against the neck. You do not have to stretch the band as much, which gives a smoother result.

3d.
Speld de halsbies delen met de goede kanten op elkaar. Speld ook de mouwbiezen dicht.
Pin the neckband parts right sides together. Also pin the ends of sleeve bands.

3e.
Naai alle halsbiesdelen met de goede kanten aan elkaar. Stik met een stretchsteek op 1cm van de kant tot aan het midden van de halsbies en laat de naald in de stof zitten.
Sew all the neckband parts right sides together. Sew with a stretch stitch on 1cm from the edge up to the middle of the neckband and leave the needle in the fabric. 

3f.
Draai de bies een slag en naai verder.
Turn the band and continue to sew.

3g.
Knip in het midden van alle naden van de halsbies een driehoekje weg en pers de naden open. 
Cut away a triangle of access fabric in the middle of all the seams in the neckband.

3h.
Vouw de hele halsbies om in de breedte en strijk plat.
Fold the whole neckband over widthwise and iron flat.

3i.
Sluit ook meteen de mouwbiezen op deze manier.
Also close the sleeve bands in this way.

3j.
Stik de 2 lagen van de dubbelgevouwen halsbies op elkaar op 0.8cm van de rand. Zo kan de bies niet verschuiven.
Sew the 2 layers of the folded neckband together on 0.8cm from the edge. This way both layers stay in place.

3k.
Leg de horizontale en vertikale lijn van de voor hals op elkaar en strijk een hulplijn van ong. 5cm. Geef in deze hulplijn een knipje van ongeveer 8mm.
Place the horizontal and vertical lines of the front neck on top of each other and iron a guideline of approx. 5cm Make a cut of about 8mm in this guideline.

3l.
Speld nu de 2 hoeken in de voorhals 2mm onder het knipje vast aan de 2 hoeken van de halsbies op 1cm van de rand. Zet links en rechts hiervan ook een speld. Het is makkelijker om straks de hals vast te naaien aan de bies dan andersom dus je speld daarom de hals tegen de bies. Speld op deze manier ook de achterhals vast aan de achternaad van de halsbies.
Now pin the 2 front corners of the neckline 2mm below the cut to the 2 front corners of the neckband at 1cm from the edge. Put a pin to the left and right of this as well. It will be easier to sew the neck to the neckband later than the other way around, so you need to pin the neck to the neckband. In the same way, also pin the back neck to the back seam of the neckband.

3m.
Daarna speld je de schoudernaden tegen zijnaden van de halsbies. Daarna speld je de tussenliggende delen. Omdat het een lastig stukje is om te naaien adviseer ik het horizontale stuk net voor en net na de hoeken even te rijgen.
Then pin the shoulder seams to the neckband  Finally, pin the area in between. Because it is a tricky piece to sew, I recommend basting the horizontal piece just before and just after the corners.

3n.
(Voor de volgende 2 stappen gebruik ik foto's van een andere stof. Door het contrast van de binnen en buitenkant kun je het beter zien).
Stik de halsbiezen langs de hals met een normale steek setting op je naaimachine. Met een naaimachine kun je veel makkelijker sturen en netjes het lastige stukje halsbies voor en achter naaien. 
(For the next 2 steps I use photos of a different fabric. The contrast of the inside and outside makes it easier to see).
Sew the neckbands along the neck with a regular stitch setting on your sewing machine. With a sewing machine it is easier to guide along the neck especially the tricky area mid front and mid back.

3o.
Voor het naaien van de hoeken voor : Naai tot je precies in het punt 2mm onder het knipje bent. Laat de naald in de stof. Doe het voetje ophoog, draai je werk, voetje omlaag en naai verder.
To sew the corners at the front: Sew until you are exactly 2mm below the cut. Leave the needle in the fabric. Raise the foot, turn your work, lower the foot and continue sewing.

3p.

3q.
Nu kun je de naden afwerken met overlock of stretchsteek plus zig-zag. Stik over het gewone stiksel heen aan de halskant. Stel je lock machine in op breedte 0,5cm en snijd dus 0,5cm weg. Begin en eindig bij de hoeken.
Now you can finish the edges with overlock or stretchstitch plus zig-zag. Sew over the existing stitch line on the neck side. Set the stitch width on 0,5cm. You will need to cut away 0,5cm. Begin and end at the corners.

3r.
Pers de hals plat.
Press the neckline. 

3s.
Stik de hals desgewenst door op een paar mm van de rand.
Topstitch if desired on a couple of mm from the edge.

4.
Mouwen, zijnaden, mouwbiezen en zoom
Sleeves, sideseams, sleevebands and hem

4a.
Stik 2 rijglijnen langs de onderrand van de mouwen. Trek voorzichtig aan beide draden zodat er rimpeltjes ontstaan.
Stitch 2 basting lines along the bottom edge of the sleeves. Gently pull on both threads to gather the fabric.

4b.
Rimpel de mouw totdat deze breedte van de manchet heeft. (Check met patroondeel). Knoop de draadjes vast.
Gather the sleeve until it is cuff width. (Check with pattern piece). Tie the yarn ends.

4c.
Speld de mouwen in de armsgaten. Maak hierbij gebruik van de kniptekens op het patroon.
Pin the sleeves into the armholes. Use the marks on the paper pattern.

Voor versie met korte pofmouw zie 4p-4w.
For version with short puffy sleeve see 4p-4w.

4d.
Stik met de overlockmachine op steekbreedte 0,5cm.
Sew with the overlockmachine, on stitchwidth 0,5cm.

4e.
Met behulp van een mouwplankje en een vochtige doek pers je de mouwkop. De naad wijst richting de mouw.
Using a sleeve board and a damp cloth, press the sleeve head. The seam points towards the sleeve.

4f.
Zet de steekbreedte weer terug op de breedste stand. Speld en stik met een overlocksteek in één keer de onderarmnaad en zijnaad. 
Readjust the stitchwidth to the widest setting. Pin and sew with an overlock stitch all the way from sleeve opening to bottom.

4g.
Laat hierbij de mouwnaad van het voorpand omhoog wijzen en die van het achterpand omlaag. Zo krijg je geen naden op elkaar.
Make sure the sleeve seam of the front points upwards and of the back downwards. This way you don't have 2 seams on top op of each other.

4h.
Geef met een speld het midden van de manchet en het midden van de mouw aan.
Mark the middle of the cuff and the middle of the sleeve with a pin.

4i.
Speld deze punten met de goede kanten aan elkaar. Speld daarna de naad van de manchet  tegen de naad van de mouw en speld dan de tussenliggende ruimte. 
Pin these points right sides together. Then pin the seam of the cuff to the seam of the sleeve and then pin the space in between.

4j.
Stik eventueel eerst de Mouw tegen de manchet met de naaimachine. Zet (daarna) de mouwbiezen aan met de overlockmachine.
Optionally sew on the cuffs first with the sewingmachine. Then attach cuffs with the overlock machine.

Tip:
Wil je een snelle manier om een pofmouw te maken? Verleng dan de onderkant van de mouw met 6 cm plus zoom. Werk de onderkant van de mouw af met een overlockrand. Vouw de rand om naar binnen en stik een zoombreedte om. Rijg een stukje elastiek die de wijdte van je pols of bovenarm heeft door de zoom en zet vast.
Want a quick way to make a puff sleeve? Then extend the bottom of the sleeve by 6 cm plus hem. Finish the bottom of the sleeve with an overlock edge. Fold the edge inwards and topstitch a seam width. Thread a piece of elastic that is the width of your wrist or upper arm through the hem and fasten.

4k.
Voor de versie met de tailleband: Speld de zijnaden van de tailleband met de goede kanten op elkaar. Naai de zijnaden met een stretchsteek en pers deze open. Eventueel de naad uitdunnen op de vouwlijn. Vouw de band om in de breedte.
For the waistband version: Pin the sideseams of the waistband right sides together. Sew the sideseams with a stretchstitch and press them open. Optionally thin out the seam on the foldline.Fold over widthwise.

4l.
Zet een speld in het midden van de voor en achterkant van de band. Zet ook een speld in het midden van de onderkant van het voor- en achterpand. Speld deze punten eerst met de goede kanten op elkaar. Speld daarna de zijnaden van shirt en band tegen elkaar en vervolgens de ruimte ertussen. Eventueel eerst stikken met de naaimachine.
Place a pin in the center of the front and back of the waistband. Also put a pin in the middle of the bottom of the front and back piece. Pin these points right sides together. Pin these points right sides together first. Then pin the side seams of shirt and band together and then the space in between them. Optionally you can sew the waistband on first with the sewing machine.

4m.
Zet de band aan met de overlockmachine of met een stretchsteek plus zigzag.
Sew on the band with the overlock machine or a stretchstitch plus zigzag.

4o.
Het mooie shirt is klaar. Trek 'm aan en geniet van de complimenten!

Zet (daarna) de mouwbiezen aan met de overlockmachine.
Then attach cuffs with the overlock machine.

Leg de horizontale en vertikale lijn van de voor hals op elkaar en strijk een hulplijn van ong. 5cm. Geef in deze hulplijn een knipje van ongeveer 8mm. Strijk ook een hulplijn middenvoor en geef ook daar een knipje. 
Place the horizontal and vertical lines of the front neck on top of each other and iron a guideline of approx. 5cm. Make a cut of about 8mm in this guideline. Also iron a guideline midfront and make a cut there.

5k.
Speld nu de 2 hoeken in de voorhals 2mm onder het knipje vast aan de 2 hoeken van de halsbies op 1cm van de rand. Zet links en rechts hiervan ook een speld. Het is makkelijker om straks de hals vast te naaien aan de bies dan andersom dus je speld daarom de hals tegen de bies. Speld op deze manier ook de achterhals vast aan de achternaad van de halsbies en het middenvoor punt.
Now pin the 2 front corners of the neckline 2mm below the cut to the 2 front corners of the neckband at 1cm from the edge. Put a pin to the left and right of this as well. It will be easier to sew the neck to the neckband later than the other way around, so you need to pin the neck to the neckband. In the dame way, also pin the back neck to the back seam of the neckband and the midfront point.

5l.
Daarna speld je de schoudernaden tegen zijnaden van de halsbies. Daarna speld je de tussenliggende delen. Omdat het een lastig stukje is om te naaien adviseer ik om de halsbies even te rijgen.
Then pin the shoulder seams to the neckband  Finally, pin the area in between. Because it is a tricky piece to sew, I recommend basting the neckband first.

5m.
(Voor de volgende 2 stappen gebruik ik foto's van een andere stof. Door het contrast van de binnen en buitenkant kun je het beter zien). Stik de halsbiezen langs de hals met een normale steek setting op je naaimachine. Met een naaimachine kun je veel makkelijker sturen en netjes het lastige stukje halsbies voor en achter naaien. 
(For the next 2 steps I use photos of a different fabric. The contrast of the inside and outside makes it easier to see). Sew the neckbands along the neck with a regular stitch setting on your sewing machine. With a sewing machine it is easier to guide along the neck especially the tricky area mid front and mid back.

5n.
Voor het naaien van de hoeken voor : Naai tot je precies in het punt 2mm onder het knipje bent. Laat de naald in de stof. Doe het voetje ophoog, draai je werk, voetje omlaag en naai verder.
To sew the corners at the front: Sew until you are exactly 2mm below the cut. Leave the needle in the fabric. Raise the foot, turn your work, lower the foot and continue sewing.

5o.
De hoek als deze is ingezet.

5p.
Nu kun je de naden afwerken met overlock of stretchsteek plus zig-zag. Stik over het gewone stiksel heen aan de halskant. Stel je lockmachine in op breedte 0,5cm en snijd dus 0,5cm weg. Begin en eindig bij de hoeken.
Now you can finish the edges with overlock or stretchstitch plus zig-zag. Sew over the existing stitch line on the neck side. Set the stitch width on 0,5cm. You will need to cut away 0,5cm. Begin and end at the corners.

5q.
Pers de hals plat.
Press the neckline.

5r.
Stik de hals desgewenst door op een paar mm van de rand.
Topstitch if desired on a couple of mm from the edge.

6.
Mouwen, zijnaden en zoom
Sleeves, sideseams and hem

6a.
Speld de mouwen in de armsgaten. Maak hierbij gebruik van de kniptekens op het patroon.
Pin the sleeves into the armholes. Use the marks on the paper pattern.

6b.
Stik met de overlockmachine op steekbreedte 0,5cm.
Sew with the overlockmachine, on stitchwidth 0,5cm.

6c.
Met behulp van een mouwplankje en een vochtige doek pers je de mouwkop. De naad wijst richting de mouw.
Using a sleeve board and a damp cloth, press the sleeve head. The seam points towards the sleeve.

6d.
Zet de steekbreedte weer terug op de breedste stand. Speld en stik met een overlocksteek in één keer de onderarmnaad en zijnaad. 
Readjust the stitchwidth to the widest setting. Pin and sew with an overlock stitch all the way from sleeve opening to bottom.

6e.
Laat hierbij de mouwnaad van het voorpand omhoog wijzen en die van het achterpand omlaag. Zo krijg je geen naden op elkaar.
Make sure the sleeveseam of the front points upwards and of the back downwards. This way  you don't have 2 seams on top op of each other.

6f.
Zet op 2cm van de onderkant een knipje in de zijnaad. Vouw één helft van de naad naar binnen en éen naar buiten.
Cut in the sideseam 2cm from the bottom. Fold one half to the inside and one half to the back.

6g.
Speld 2,5cm zoom af. Spelden aan de buitenkant.
Pin a 2,5cm hem. Pins go on the outside.

6h.
Speld ook de zomen van de mouwtjes op dezelfde manier.
Also pin the hems of the sleeves in the same way.

6i.
Naai de zoom op 2cm van de onderkant met een coverlock of tweelingnaald in je naaimachine aan de buitenkant van het shirt en mouwen.
Sew the hem 2cm from the bottom with a coverlock stitch or a twin needle on your sewing machine on the outside of the shirt and sleeves.

6j.
Knip de overtollige stof weg boven het coverlock of tweelingnaad stiksel.
Trim away any access fabric above the stitching.

6k.
Eventueel nog een geweven label in de hals naaien en je t-shirt is klaar, veel draagplezier!
Optionally sew in a woven label in the neck and your t-shirt is ready, enjoy wearing!

7 (bonus hack).
Van T-shirt naar jurk
From T-shirt to dress

7a.
Neem het patroon over op patroonpapier. Kies slim fit voor en aangesloten pasvorm of relaxed fit voor een iets ruimere pasvorm. Geef met een tekentje de kniplijn voor het kortere model aan (zie*).
Copy pattern on pattern paper. Choose slim fit for a fitted dress and relaxed fit for a slightly looser fit. Mark the cutting line for the short version of the shirt as indicated in photo*.

7b.
Meet de gewenste lengte vanaf het hoogste schouderpunt. Rond de 105cm is net over de knie. Ik maakte deze jurk 100cm. Geef met een tekentje de lengte van de jurk aan op het papier.
Measure the desired length from top shoulder. About 105cm is just over the knee. I made mine 100cm. Mark the length of the dress on the pattern.

7c.
Verleng de middenvoorlijn.
Extend the midfront line.

7d.
Verbind de middenvoorlijn met het lengte punt die je zojuist hebt aangegeven en verleng deze tot je de gewenste onderwijdte hebt. In het geval van deze jurk is dat 32cm, een a-lijn rok voor een maat 36 (zie foto*). Per maat kun je ongeveer een cm toevoegen.
Connect the midfront line with the length mark and extend this line to the desired width. In my case it is 32cm, an a-line for a size 36 as indicated in photo*. Per size you can add approx. 1cm.

7e.
Geef het taille punt aan door 3 cm omhoog te meten vanaf het punt voor de korte lengte.
(zie ook foto 7d. in rood aangegeven).
Indicate the waistline by going up 3 cm from the short version mark. (also indicated on picture 7d. as a red mark)

7f.
Verbind de taille met de onderkant. Teken een nieuwe onderkant die haaks staat op de net getekende zijnaad.
Connect the waist to the bottom line. Draw a new bottom line perpendicular to this line.

7g.
Teken naad en zoom aan.
Add seam allowance and hem.

7h.
Het jurkpatroon is klaar!
